1. Obtain your Queensland Learners Permit ...
To apply for a Queensland learners licence, read your QLD TPT keys to driving book, answer the practice tests by clicking on this link
Practice Learners Test: https://www.service.transport.qld.gov.au/rrtexternal/SelectExam.jsp
Attend a Qld Transport Customer Service Centre and do the following:-
Be at least 16 years of age.
Complete a driver licence application at your local QLD Transport Customer Service Centre.
Provide proof of residency and 3 pieces of identification,
Birth certificate (original)
Bank statement as proof of ID
Bank statement, telephone bill etc, as proof of residency
Successfully complete a written road rules test.
"Your keys to driving in Queensland" can be purchased from Queensland Transport, your local news agency or it can be downloaded at www.transport.qld.gov.au/Home/Licensing/Learn_to_drive/Training_and_courses/For_the_learner/Your_keys_to_driving_in_queensland/
2. Choose a driving school to coach you through the learning process... Total Driver
Choose a training package that is matched to the outcomes you desire. Choose the highest benchmark possible.
3. Practice with parents or friends who have a full licence
Practice is fine, first you must know what to practice.
4. Use your DVD and summation notes to refresh lesson content, between lessons, ensure your licensed driver coaches you, using your DVDs and summation notes as a guide.
It is a legal requirement in Queensland that you have 100 hours "experience" behind the wheel recorded in your official log book, prior to sitting for your practical test. This should be seen as the minimum.
Queensland Transport multiplies the first 10 lessons with a driving school by 3 (= 30 hours)
Each driving lesson after the first 10, is equal only to the hour it represents.
5. Book your Practical Driving Test ...
Total Driver can lead you through this process with a Test Ready Package. Ensure you are 17 years or older and have completed a minimum 100 hours. There can be a waiting period for a test, so plan in advance.
6. Pass your Practical Driving Test ...
Your Instructor will not come in the vehicle and instead waiting for you at the testing centre. Once you have completed the test the Inspector will debrief you on your performance and inform you of the result.
Choose between a 1 – 5 yrs licence, A fee of $60.00 applies (5 yr).
