Why don’t we teach them extreme hazard avoidance, understeer and oversteer on the Driver Development course? Well to teach them how to recover from loss of control, you have to teach them how to find it. As we said earlier, you cannot teach someone how to control loss of control.
So we use this to get them back after they have had some experience as a solo driver, the exuberance has settled, they have formed their “habits”
This course gives us the opportunity to review their driving, show them how bad habits undermine their driving proficiency, tune them up and have some fun at the same time.
We know now they will not use these new found skills to show off, but understand where it fits within the overall picture of being prepared.
Additionally they have a dramatic realisation of how a little complacency with technique, can really undermine their safety over all.
